By revealing that she has agreed to “do another year” on the ITV soap opera, Maureen Lipman has reaffirmed her future there.

Alan Titchmarsh, host of Love Your Weekend, was informed of the wonderful news by the actress, who portrays Evelyn Plummer.

When host Alan questioned Maureen about her future on the show, she said that she wouldn’t be leaving.

She said, “Yes, I have been signed up for another year.” “Oh my goodness, it keeps you on your game, and that’s good for you.”

Speaking about acting generally, Maureen said she still considers the field to be “completely fascinating.”

She said, “I don’t get bored with this business and I don’t suppose you do either.” Alan completely agreed, calling the venture “stimulating.”

In 2018, Mauren—who had previously portrayed Rovers Return’s relieving manager Lilian Spencer—joined the ITV serial opera’s cast as Evelyn.

Evelyn has been in several plots since making her debut and has grown to be a crowd favorite. The main character eventually reconciled with her estranged grandson and went to live with him at his family’s No. 9 residence.

She has just made her long-lost daughter Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) whole again and developed a strong bond with Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

Fans will undoubtedly be relieved to hear that Maureen is sticking put after it was announced earlier this year that she would be taking a vacation from the cobbles later in the year to participate in a pantomime.

A Coronation Street representative confirmed to Metro.co.uk, when contacted for comment, that Dame Maureen will be taking a leave of absence from the show at the end of the year.

“We hope to see her return to the cobbles in 2025.”
