Emmerdale fans vow to ‘not watch again’ as they issue same demand to soap bosses

‘Stop watching’ Emmerdale permanently is what viewers have vowed to do as they’ve called on the ITV soap to alter drastically.

Viewers of Emmerdale are still pleading with the show’s creators.

Having been a television stalwart since 1972, the ITV soap opera has a devoted fan base. But it appears that some fans are furious with the storylines they’ve been seeing lately.

Drama on the show has definitely not been lacking lately. It debuted a disturbing abuse plot between Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King (James Chase) earlier this year.

She divorced him and recently denounced him to the police after realising his true character.

Belle has not spoken out about the cruelty and violence she endured at the hands of Tom, even though he has not shown any indications of letting her go. The Manchester Evening News claims that the criminal went so far as to appear to have killed Belle’s dog, Piper, leaving Belle devastated.

Furthermore, the attitude of soap opera legend Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) has alarmed viewers in recent weeks.

After beating substance abuse three years ago, Moira has returned to drinking in addition to acting out of character and having arguments with her husband Cain (Jeff Hordley).

Emmerdale viewers were shocked earlier this week when Moira had a seizure outside in the barn, raising concerns that she could have a brain tumour. However, a few viewers have voiced their displeasure with the show’s ongoing “doom and gloom” plots.

Disgruntled viewers flocked to social media, threatening to “turn off” the soap opera if its plot didn’t contain some “happy and funniness”. One viewer said the following on the Emmerdale Facebook fan page: “More health issues and sadness, it’s depressing.”

One more viewer said, “I’m tired of it right now. I am aware that I can switch off. Possibly need to.” Another added, “Repeatedly sad doom and gloom absolutely nothing pleasant or nice or happy in any story what so ever get a grip writers.”

“If they carry on with these dark and depressing storylines I’m going to stop watching all together,” said another. “Oh, can we get some happy, cheery, and funny storylines, it’s so depressing now,” begged a fifth.
