For a very long time in Emmerdale, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has been a man torn between two women.

After a fight with Charity after her tragic miscarriage, he ruined his marriage to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) by having an affair with Chloe (Jessie Elland). Charity retaliated by telling him to disperse his seeds elsewhere, and the foolish guy really followed Charity’s advice.

He attempted to overlook the fact that Chloe was pregnant after their one meeting in order to rebuild his relationship with Charity, but once baby Reuben was born, he appeared to have other priorities.

It always seemed that his kid was the main factor keeping his relationship with Reuben together, even after he made the decision he wanted to be with Chloe and have a true family. In fact, Mackenzie spent the night with Charity the day Reuben was christened.

The momentous vehicle collision involving Mack, Charity, and Chloe was what made them all grasp the reality. Mackenzie grabbed Charity and dragged her out of the vehicle before it plummeted down a cliff, having to decide in a split second whether to rescue Charity or Chloe.

Mack has stayed with Chloe out of guilt and a fear of losing Reuben, but he recently had to tell Charity that he still feels something for her. He was ready to break the news to Chloe when she passed out and the doctors told her to rest for a few weeks. Mack consequently made the decision to maintain the pretence till Christmas.

But he informed Charity that today, November 20, would be the day he would tell Chloe he was leaving since he couldn’t wait even a few weeks.

She’d decorated the home for Christmas as a surprise for him, which made it much more emotional and painful for Chloe. Little Reuben was even dressed in little reindeer antlers. Chloe was looking forward to their first family Christmas.

Mack was not going to comply. I can’t handle this, us,’ he said. “Christmas is not going to be spent with you.” I had to say goodbye to you for now.

She responded, “Tell me it’s not Charity,” to which he was plainly unable to respond since it is.

With a caustic parting shot, a distraught Chloe summoned her dignity and urged him to leave the home.

With all accuracy, she informed him, “You have just been one long disappointment.”

Mack approached Charity, and their shared realisation that they could now be together in public should have made them both happy. Given the situation, they had no desire to rejoice.

In addition to feeling terrible about the way he had just ended Chloe’s life, Mack could have been considering the implications for his relationship with Reuben. Charity feared Chloe would not just forgive and move on, but would attempt to get retribution.

Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson), on the other hand, was being told by Chloe that she had known all along that something was about to happen but had chosen to ignore it.

With her life in shambles, she wept in her sister’s arms.
