Caleb Milligan (William Ash) has been surrounded by controversy ever since he moved to Emmerdale around Christmas of last year. To begin with, he arrived with a hidden goal: to seize Home Farm and all of Kim Tate’s possessions from her in retaliation for her role in the passing of his father, Frank Tate.

However, fans have just seen Caleb begin a plot that even surprised the actor portraying him: his affair with Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh).

When William Ash first learned about the plot, he said, “It was a bit of a shock for me that they were going to be getting together.”

He added, however, that it made perfect sense and had even been alluded to in previous episodes.

There had been some sexual tension between them in some of the early sequences when my character had first met Tracy, when he was getting engaged with plans for the nursery and all that kind of thing,’ he said.

Whether she was drawn to his wealth or the number of opportunities he might provide to her, there was a faint tinge to something.

In the week of episodes when Lydia (Karen Blick) questioned the Dingles about their whereabouts after the murder of rapist Craig (Ben Addis), viewers first saw Tracy and Caleb sharing a kiss. Everybody was hiding something, and Caleb’s was that he had kissed Tracy without permission. Then one more after that.

“It felt really motivating to me, but it was a little shocking,” William Ash said. “I feel like all the building blocks were there, even though they were very subtle.”

Since then, they have been visibly infatuated with one another while attempting to control their feelings. We’ll see them give way to their desire to one another once again in later episodes.

According to the actor, the reason why Caleb finds the connection intriguing is because Tracy is married to his nephew Nate (Jurell Carter), which makes the liaison all sorts of wrong.

It seems that Caleb has forgotten what family loyalty means (Picture: ITV).

“A lot of the time, Caleb is motivated by the simple desire for everything,” he said. Even though he knows it’s banned and taboo, he will still pursue it.

Despite knowing that he shouldn’t be sleeping with his nephew’s wife, he yet feels drawn to do so.

Naturally, the affair poses a danger to not just Tracy and Nate’s marriage, which has only been together for six months, but also to the relationship Caleb has lately developed with his brother Cain (Jeff Hordley), who is Nate’s father.

“He’s not trying to get even with Nate in that sense; he just likes him.” Will pushed.

“He is acting extremely snide because what he is doing is really disgusting.” I believe he struggles a little bit with it. He struggles a lot with the realisation that he is treating his nephew in a really vile manner.

Additionally, the expense of it and the possibility that it might ruin his friendship with Cain. That hasn’t escaped Caleb’s notice. He is aware of it. He is aware that this is a very risky game he is playing. But he is unable to stop himself.
