ITV Emmerdale’s Charity Dingle commits murder as actress Emma Atkins teases killer twist

The Mackenzie Boyd thriller Emmerdale star Emma Atkins hinted that her character Charity Dingle would murder someone in a dramatic showdown with Damon “Harry” Harris.

Emma Atkins said that Charity Dingle would have to turn murderous as part of Emmerdale’s gripping Christmas plot.

The actress, who has been in the role of Charity since 2000, has disclosed that the abduction of her partner Mackenzie Boyd (played by Lawrence Robb) may push her to murder.

Mackenzie’s life has been in jeopardy in the last few episodes due to the arrival of Chloe Harris’s (Jessie Elland) criminal father in the Dales.

Having previously kidnapped Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) for his business dealings with her brother Caleb Miligan (William Ash), Chloe’s father, Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck), is now pursuing Mack due to his treatment of Chloe.

In upcoming episodes, Mack will be abducted by the mobster following an argument with Charity that ends with him leaving for the evening and telling her he won’t be returning for some time.

Chas and Charity notice Harry, and after they discover where Harry is hiding Mack, Charity worries that something has happened to Mack.

And when Charity shows up right before Harry is about to shoot Mack, the three get into a fistfight that ends with a gunshot.

Emma discussed the plot, saying: “Charity is unaware that Mack has been abducted until a specific moment. She is blissfully oblivious to the situation.

“It’s fantastic that Charity embarks on a mission with Chas after learning the truth. She doesn’t know Harry when she first sees him in the village with Chloe, but Chas tells her that he’s the one who abducted her a few weeks prior.”

Then Charity’s head begins to spin,” she went on. “Hang on, Mackenzie has been missing for a few days,” she realises. This isn’t merely a coincidence; given that he has abducted you, what else is he capable of?

She begins to believe it must be Mackenzie’s location and asks Chas to accompany her.

“Chas’s personal experience is causing her to have PTSD, but Charity can’t handle it by herself. They follow the commotion and arrive at an abandoned warehouse.

“They go on this mission to try and locate Mackenzie and it’s revealed that it’s not a particularly pleasant experience at all.”

Emma responded to a question about whether Charity would end up killing Harry to protect Mack by saying, “I guess you’ll find out! I don’t believe Charity is naturally inclined to murder people.

“But if it meant defending the people she loves about, she might be able to and would. I believe that defence instinct is something that may exist in each of us. Who knows, though?
