After informing the police that Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) is still alive, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) signed the execution warrant for her. This led to the release of Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry).

As fans are aware, Eve set up her much-anticipated return to the Square earlier this week, much to the delight of Suki (Balvinder Sopal), who had assumed that Eve had passed away. This included framing both Ravi and Nish.

After learning of Eve’s romance with Suki, Nish had ordered her to be killed; however, Ravi was unable to carry out the order, thus Eve was spared and allowed to live in return for her disappearance.

Eve bought herself some time before making her move, letting Ravi and Nish set her up for murder after finding her bloody shirt in the latter’s vehicle.

You can imagine Jack’s surprise when he entered Stacey Slater’s house and saw Eve alive and well. Jack had been assigned the duty of informing Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) of Eve’s purported death.

Eve begged Jack not to tell his coworkers about her situation so that she and her partner Suki could leave Walford.

Jack found it difficult to accept that Nish and Ravi would be executed for a crime they did not commit, but Eve reassured the detective that she could not be trusted and that the two gangsters would murder her if she let them go.

For a little while, Jack agreed to maintain silence, but on Friday’s (December 22) episode of the BBC One soap opera, he changed his mind when Suki threatened to blackmail him over his one-night affair with Stacey.

After a confrontation with Stacey and her spouse Denise Fox (Diane Parish), the investigator finally called the station to inform them that Eve is still alive. That meant that Nish and Ravi might go free.

Will Eve’s prediction come true is the question.

Will Nish and Ravi pursue her for vengeance? We already know that one guy would die on Christmas Day, but might this happen after they murdered Eve if Nish or Ravi turn out to be the corpse on the Vic floor?

BBC One’s EastEnders returns on Christmas Day at 9:45 p.m.
