Emmerdale spoilers: Ryan unleashes his hurt as Charity is consumed by pain over childhood trauma

A few months ago, when Ryan Stocks (James Moore) learned that his son Oscar (Harley Hamilton) was seriously ill in Emmerdale, he was taken aback.

Oscar was adopted when he was born by Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) and Ryan. However, his adoptive mother, Sophie (Martha Cope), recently contacted them and asked to have them tested to see whether they would be a match for the stem cell therapy he required.

Luckily, Gail was a match, and Oscar had his therapy shortly after.

But Sophie informed Gail and Ryan that it was extremely hard for Oscar to get to know them, and they were devastated to hear that.

They were unaware, though, that she later claimed to Oscar that Gail and Ryan were the ones who had found it difficult to see him, proving that she had been lying to keep them away.

Oscar is scheduled to visit his biological parents in the Emmerdale village in future episodes.

Oscar is hesitant to go home even though Gail, Ryan, and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) reassure him that Sophie is aware of his visits.

Sadly, he arrives too late, as Sophie quickly storms through the door to get even with them.

As the fight heats up and Ryan finally lets out his hurt, Gail and Charity are left stunned.

Ryan is astonished to learn that Gail has forgiven Sophie, but he also acknowledges that they were disappointed to be removed from Oscar’s life and emphasises that he should have the last say in the matter.

Charity is concerned about how much to tell Oscar after taking him away to allow the others space to discuss, especially when he starts pressing her for information regarding Ryan’s father.

Viewers will know that Charity was abused by DI Bails as a teenager, and gave birth to Ryan aged 14 as a result. With Mack Boyd’s (Lawrence Robb) advice to keep things simple in the back of her mind, Charity admits her age to her grandson, and he is soon able to work out what must have happened. As Oscar reassures relieved Charity that he is glad his grandfather isn’t around, he and Sophie apologise to each other, and he is thrilled when she gives him the chance to see Gail and Ryan again.
