Emmerdale’s Paula Lane confirms romance for newcomer Ella in surprise love triangle plot

Paula Lane has joined the ITV soap opera Emmerdale as Ella Forster, leaving Coronation Street behind.

Paula is well remembered for her role as Corrie’s Kylie Platt, who sadly passed away in 2016 after being stabbed in the arms of her husband David (Jack P Shepherd).

Next week, Ella and I will cross paths when Mandy (Lisa Riley) and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) go to a veterinary gala. Mandy’s fury boils as a managing director named Jules cruelly makes fun of her outfit, but Paddy gives in to him and refuses to declare Mandy his girlfriend.

Later on, Mandy comforts Ella after witnessing Jules berate his PA.

Ella takes a drink to Jules’s face in retaliation for his persistent criticism of Mandy.

Ella will eventually show up in the town and start talking to other characters. While working at the surgery, the newbie becomes entangled in an intriguing romantic plot as she settles in.

Paula Lane made fun of the fact that a romance was already going on in the operation. Thus, I’m not sure. There is a little amount of competition and perhaps some pyrotechnics. There’s a little triangle of affection.

However, one never knows what could occur behind closed doors. We are now constructing a brand-new set, and the surgery will be located on Main Street. At that point, all of these characters will kind of emerge; I’ll be in the centre of the hamlet, figuring out the new surgery.

Paula said, thinking back on Ella’s bond with Mandy:

I always think that’s where my skills kind of lie, along with playing a little tragedy. However, it’s a good idea to have a somewhat equal blend.

“I believe that occurred because Ella’s boss at the time continued to push her,” said the author. When she merely watches him degrade Mandy, it’s the last straw, and she feels compelled to defend her. And when I consider it, I see that Mandy is only seeing it. Yes, she makes a wonderful friend. And they simply get this spark right away. And from there, it progresses.

Speaking about casting and developing Ella’s character, Paula said, “I think I manifested it timing-wise!”

And then there was a talk, and from that a seed was sown, and that’s when the magic occurs. Thus, I believe it was only a little coincidence. Still, it landed in my lap. And for that, I am very appreciative and thankful. And like I already said, all I want to do is the best I can.

Paula’s departure from Coronation Street in 2016 seems unreal. She spoke about quitting the show, what occurred later, and how she decided this was the appropriate moment to be in another soap opera as she carried on with her conversation.

I always think it’s best to just follow whatever is presented to you. And it’s been a very fantastic seven years. I mean, in addition to raising my family and doing guest parts on various TV shows, I’ve done a tonne of theatre and travelled a lot. As you point out, it is sense to give the audience a little break when you are such a well-known figure.

Furthermore, I believe that I have personally changed as well. Thus, I believe that quite an amount of time has gone. And it seems healthy to me.

She grinned and said, “I feel like I’m going to really fit in here.”

In terms of family, that works for me. Our main office is in Hebden Bridge. Therefore, that’s excellent acting. Even simply arriving into the town makes me feel very much at home.

“I think enough time has passed to be able to branch out and be seen as something different, so just to create a brand new character, that’s what’s going to be really important for me now moving forward, is that I develop something that’s going to be completely different to what people have seen seven years ago,” the actor said.
