Coronation Street left fans baffled by major age blunder in milestone celebration

Coronation Street fans were left scratching their heads when they spotted a major blunder as Dev Alahan celebrated his twins’ 19th birthday with a bang in new scenes

As two residents celebrated a significant milestone, viewers of Coronation Street were very perplexed to see a serious inaccuracy.

During Asha and Aadi Alahan’s Wednesday visit to the ITV cobbles, viewers got to see them in the process of organising their spectacular birthday celebration. Although they received the twins back in 2006, Dev and his wife Sunita have faced several difficulties.

A few years later, in a horrific fire at the Rovers Return, their mother perished under horrifying circumstances at the hands of her former boyfriend, Karl Munro. Before the teenagers’ special day, Dev was spotted strolling down memory lane with his daughter and flipping through an album of pictures.

He said, “I was just looking through some old pictures when I came across this one.” There, you were two minutes old. Adi is definitely a little older.

It’s difficult to comprehend that you will be 19 in a few days. My sweet little honey bun, time flies. An old photo of them being born was posted by the ITV soap official account after the one-hour episode aired.

The message said, “This week marks the Alahan twins’ tenth birthday! Who of us can recall their birth year? Confusion-stricken fans flocked to social networking platform X, previously known as Twitter, after seeing the endearing moments to flag up one significant mistake online.

Watchers couldn’t resist pointing out that ITV executives had inadvertently calculated their ages wrong. A commenter wrote: “Obviously not Dev or the #CoronationStreet writing team, as they were born in 2006… (you know, 18 for those who have trouble with maths).”

“Really, why bring attention to your character age jokes with a tweet like this if you’re going to make them up?” They’re turning 19? Another person inquired, echoing the question of another: “Can you explain how they’re 19 if they were born 18 years ago?” eighteen years after their birth? How does that come to pass?

“Probably so they were the same ago as Amy and Summer so [they] could hang out and go partying together once adults,” one person said in response to the question of why they had “aged up.” Another theory put up was that, during COVID, the younger performers were given more plots and larger roles while the elder players were given greater protection.

“Therefore, they desired to advance the mature storylines.” “Yes, they did age up for mature storylines, so the teens could be the same age and same year in school,” said a third.

“It will most likely revert to their actual age in the future.” Another commented in the meantime: “I believe for narratives. In order to begin secondary school with Chesney, Sophie Webster had her age reduced by one year; but, for her coming-out narrative, her birth year was restored.

Representatives from ITV have been contacted by Daily Star for a response.
