Actor Bradley Johnson is well-known to Emmerdale fans for playing the endearing Vinny Dingle, but things might have turned out quite differently. He recently disclosed that he had tried out for a different role in the ITV soap opera.

In the four years after his 2019 debut, Bradley has been a part of numerous intense storylines as Vinny, the son of Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley).

Among these narratives were Vinny discovering that Mandy was not his real mother, experiencing violence from his father Paul, and developing feelings for Liv Flaherty.

More recently, after being recently brought back to the town by uncles Cain and Caleb (Jeff Hordley and William Ash), Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), has been aggressive against him.

Despite having voluntarily given the scrapyard and his house to Vinny after Liv’s untimely death last year, Aaron is certain that he wants them back.

Although fans like Bradley’s depiction of Vinny, the actor recently revealed to Inside Soap Magazine that things might have turned out quite differently.

“Emmerdale has always been on in our home; I’ve watched it since I was a small child.”

It was strange since I had applied for the role of Lachlan years before and had made it down to the final two. I recall feeling so discouraged since my family loves Emmerdale so much. But clearly, it wasn’t meant to be.

The evil serial murderer Lachlan White, whose terror reign came to an end with his arrest back in 2018, will be remembered by viewers.

In addition to the killings of Paul Tozer, Chrissie and Lawrence White, and Gerry Roberts, the evil figure was also accountable for the abduction of Rebecca White and the sexual assault of Alicia Metcalfe.

Actor Thomas Atkinson portrayed the role from 2014 till 2019, and Bradley concurs that there is no other way it could have happened.

“I love playing Vinny; he’s brilliant, and I can’t imagine playing Lachlan,” he said.
