Emmerdale spoilers: Cain Dingle challenges Liam Cavanagh over how many women he’s slept with after Chas discovery

On Wednesday, January 17, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had a difficult day because she had to go to the breast clinic to get the lump she had lately discovered looked into.

Naturally, Chas was scared, especially because her mother, Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter), had passed away from breast cancer in 2022. She told Gail Loman (Rachael Gill-Davis) that she had an appointment to take care of a back issue since she didn’t want anybody to know where she was heading.

She had a number of tests at the clinic, and she is now awaiting the findings. She started crying at one point, and the consultant—former Holby City actress Rebecca Grant—tried to comfort her by telling her that the lump may not be cancer and that, if it was, they had discovered it early.

Later on, Jonny McPherson’s character Liam Cavanagh reiterated the same guarantee. He is the only one who currently knows what’s going on; it was he who found the lump after having a sexual relationship with Chas.

His effort at consoling didn’t really work since Chas already had the worst case scenario in mind. She informed him that until she understood what she was dealing with, she didn’t want other members of her family to know.

Just thereafter, Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) materialised, searching for Eve Dingle (played by Bella James) to extend an invitation to supper with his sons. He could tell right away that there was a problem between Liam and Chas because they both seemed apprehensive and guilty, as like they were concealing something.

“I don’t give a damn,” Cain said. “Who would have guessed?” said a visibly relieved Liam.

Cain went back to Liam after having a notion as he was leaving. He said, “How many women have you slept with now?” That’s a valid question, and based simply on the ones we are aware of, the estimated figure is a fair amount. Under pressed, Liam snapped and said that he and Chas were sharing a bed. He reasoned that a little truth was preferable than a falsehood.

Chas corrected him, “Once.”

Evidently, Liam was a little afraid of what reaction Cain, who may be Liam’s buddy but is also quite scary, would have to the news that Liam was having an affair with his sister.

Liam apologised to Chas for humiliating her after he left, but she was simply relieved he had kept quiet about her health problems and told him once again to remain quiet. Liam reassured her that he was always there and advised her to “try not to worry.”

For impoverished Chas, however, easier said than done. She chose a picture of her mother on her own and pondered what may come next.
