As if Tommy Orpington from Coronation Street couldn’t be any more famous, you learn that actor Matt Milburn, who portrays the character, is linked to another legend in the cobbles community.
Matt is the real-life brother of Greg Wood, who played cobbles thug Rick Neelan in the ITV serial opera for eight years, on and off.

As viewers are aware, Rick scared the people who lived on the street named after him, most notably Gary Windass (Mikey North). In 2019, Windass took revenge, killing Rick and hiding his corpse in the woods in an effort to rescue his family.
The character has been on the programme in a recurrent role for ten years, from 2009 to 2019, much like Tommy O.
The actor Greg is also well-known for his performances in Hollyoaks, including that of Trevor Royle (RIP, Trev), who passed away on his wedding day while being held in the arms of his fiancée Grace Black (Tamara Wall).
In the meanwhile, Matt had more appearances in Hollyoaks, where he starred in 27 episodes as Joe Spencer from 2003 to 2006.
He is most renowned for portraying the endearing Tommy Orpington on Corrie, however, and when he returns to the show this year, he will be the focus of a significant plot.
Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) will send retired football player Tommy, who is his ultimate idol, to No. 1 in his role as a painter and decorator so he may work on the property as directed by Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford).
However, with Steve off in France, feelings between Tommy and Tracy will quickly flare up, leading to the beginning of an affair.
Performer Matt Miburn said, “I was absolutely thrilled,” when asked about taking on the role again on a regular basis. “I was thrilled to hear that I would be returning and being given something much more substantial, as I had only played Tommy on and off since 2016.”
“I knew it would become something because, deep down, I believe in myself and I’ve always wanted to be on the show,” Matt said. Nevertheless, receiving the call was still a pleasant surprise! I was surprised, of course, but also ecstatic since I had been wanting it for years.
