When Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) eventually informs her family about her illness in Emmerdale, they immediately give her a troubled look.
After having sex with Liam (Jonny McPherson) a few weeks before, Chas was shocked to learn that he had detected a lump in her breast.
It was expected that Chas would spend some time in denial after her mother’s death some months earlier due to her own cancer diagnosis, but with Liam’s assistance, she eventually went for a scan at the doctor.
Liam and Chas attempt to discuss her prognosis in future episodes, but Liam is still worried since Chas wants to hide the disease.
Thankfully, Chas agrees and is ready to speak out when Liam tells her that informing her family is the best course of action.
As a fight breaks out between a few of the Dingles in the bar, Chas breaks the news, leaving everyone stunned.
Aaron (Danny Miller) stands out like a sore thumb as the family gathers around Chas to support her; he maintains his distance and goes.
Later on in the week, Chas and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) focus on Eve. They take a seat and gently inform the little girl that her mother is ill with cancer.
In a conversation with Jeff Hordley’s character Cain, Chas shares her worries but maintains optimism since the disease was detected early.
As the family gathers to bid Chas farewell, Mandy (Lisa Riley) comes up to her and gives her a wad of cash that Paddy gave her.
But while Chas is gone, what will happen in the village?
And what condition will her health be in when she gets back?
