Emmerdale spoilers: Paddy Kirk makes huge vow to Chas Dingle as she tells Eve about her cancer in emotional moment

In Wednesday’s (January 31) Emmerdale episode, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) switched her focus to Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and their daughter Eve, ready to inform them about her disease.

When Chas just went to the hospital, she was informed that she shared her mother Faith’s (Sally Dexter) breast cancer, which passed away in 2022. While the diagnosis is the same as her mother’s, no two instances are comparable, the doctor sought to comfort Chas.

Following Liam Cavanagh’s (Jonny McPherson) assistance, Chas made the decision to inform her Dingle family about her illness.

And daughter Eve and former boyfriend Paddy were the centre of attention tonight.

Chas visited Danny Miller’s character Aaron Dingle in his Mill Cottage apartment at the start of the episode. They made the decision to attempt to patch things up yesterday, but as they uncomfortably conversed over tomato sauce and bacon sarnies, it became clear that they still had a long way to go.

Aaron brought his sister outside when Paddy and Eve arrived so Chas could confide with Paddy. After disclosing her diagnosis, she was moved when Paddy offered to assist Chas in explaining the condition to Eve.

Eve was informed by the ex-couple that Chas, like Granny Faith, had a “small amount of cancer” in her breast. Eve disturbed them both when she said that the medications didn’t assist her grandmother, despite Paddy’s assurance that Chas would get well thanks to the “fancy medicines.”

Aaron and Eve were on their way to Mandy Dingle’s (Lisa Riley) salon when Paddy advised Chas to accept his assistance, promising to be there for her “day or night.”

When Chas said that Mandy should surely know that he made such a significant commitment, Paddy just replied that Chas is Eve and Grace’s mother and would “never not be important” to him.

Chas thought about her conversation with Eve and the long journey ahead as they sat down.

“She won’t let go of me,” she assured Paddy.

“Not when she’s still a young child.”
