After his marriage to Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) ended, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) in Coronation Street seems to be on the upswing.
In the ITV soap opera, Tim (Joe Duttine) revealed to Steve, Tracy’s closest friend, a few weeks prior that she was having an affair with football player Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).
Although Steve was understandably devastated, he was shocked to learn that Tracy was genuinely dissatisfied in their marriage and had no desire to reconcile.
Next, Steve complains to David (Jack P Shepherd) in the cafe that no one seems to be interested in his dating profile.
Debbie (Sue Devaney), who is listening in on the chat, advises him to try going to the cocktail event at the Chariot Square Hotel if he wants to meet someone.
When Steve gets home, he discovers Ken (played by William Roache) trying on several jackets and says he’s going to the cocktail party with him.
Steve has a terrible ending to the evening when Ken becomes acquainted with Helen Lederer’s character, Elspeth.
A self-assured Steve chooses later in the week to jump back on the horse and heads to the pub for the evening of speed dating.
Steve is not impressed when he finds himself seated next to Tracy when it first starts, but he eventually connects with Cassie Plummer!
After the speed dating, Steve recommends that Cassie (Claire Sweeney) and him get together once more.
Are Steve’s circumstances finally improving? Between him and Cassie, may we be dealing with an odd pair?
Or is he in for some more heartache?
