Coronation Street confirms future of Joseph Brown’s new storyline

Gemma and Chesney consider the boy’s education.

A new Coronation Street plot will mean significant changes in Joseph Brown’s life.

Since Linda Hancock returned to Weatherfield, the kid has found himself embroiled in a proxy war between his stepmother Gemma Winter and grandma Linda Hancock.

Until Joseph’s Lyme Disease diagnosis was ultimately made public, Linda had suspected Gemma of poisoning the kid.

Gemma also objected to Linda’s attempts to pay for Joseph’s tuition at the esteemed Oakhill School, but in later scenes, the youngster is keen to get an invitation to the school.

Joseph’s parents will accompany him to the private school’s admission test now that Gemma has given her approval.

Gemma soon gets a call stating that Joseph has been given the opportunity to have an at-home interview with the Oakhill admissions counsellor since he does so well on his entrance test.

In an attempt to impress Dawn, the Oakhill official, Gemma and Chesney start about cleaning their home, but they will need to do more than that.

Given that Linda is paying for Joseph’s education, she will probably have even greater control over his life if Joseph is admitted to the school.

Producer Iain MacLeod recently made a suggestion that by taking Linda’s money, Gemma and Chesney would be entering into an agreement for which they are unprepared.

“Linda appears as Joseph’s fairy godmother,” the producer revealed to Digital Spy. “She decides she’s going to fix everything and starts throwing money at the problem, which puts Chesney and Gemma in an impossible situation because they have to give up control of Joseph’s life in order to accept financial help from Linda.”

“They believe that because this is our kid, we need to be the ones making these choices. That Linda is swooping in with her chequebook and rescuing the day doesn’t seem right. Nevertheless, they also have to put Joseph’s needs first as he is struggling and could need the assistance.”
