In Emmerdale, Ella Forster (Paula Lane), the receptionist, is a kind newbie.
She first made an impression at a veterinary gala by standing up for Mandy (Lisa Riley), and she also made an impression on Dawn (Olivia Bromley) when she was having trouble nursing Evan.
It became clear in recent weeks that Ella harboured a little crush on Liam, her coworker (Jonny McPherson). Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) took note of this and decided to call an unpleasant team meeting to discuss acceptable conduct at work.
During their alone time, Manpreet and Ella told Ella about Liam and Wendy’s (Susan Cookson) affair and how it broke Bob’s heart (Tony Audenshaw). Ella emphasised that they wouldn’t be doing anything improper since they are both unmarried, but she acknowledged that Manpreet was just concerned about how Liam’s next romantic adventure would affect other people.
Ella then made the decision to ask Liam to the after-work pub quiz.
Ella struck up a conversation about Liam’s lengthy romantic history with Leyla and Kerry (Laura Norton) at the bar.
When Leyla revealed herself as Liam’s ex, she seemed a bit startled. However, when Kerry added her two cents and brought up Bernice (Samantha Giles) and Wendy, she became overwhelmed.
In an attempt to quell rumours, Ella clarified to Kerry and Leyla that she and Liam are only coworkers.
Outside, however, was a little different story.
Liam and Ella exchanged a kiss as they bid one other farewell. Liam was pleased with the turn of events, but Ella hurried to catch the bus as soon as she saw Kerry was behind him.
Kerry joked that Liam was a bad kisser, but it’s safe to assume that he was perplexed by Ella’s quick departure.
Is it possible that Ella is just trying to avoid becoming the focus of attention in the village?
Is she concealing a sinister secret?
