In Emmerdale, Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) and Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) wed in secret, or they would have if Cain (Jeff Hordley) hadn’t gotten involved. However, their marriage ended in a very public divorce.
Nate and the rest of the family were shocked when Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) revealed that her husband Caleb (William Ash) had been having an affair with Tracy at Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King’s (James Chase) wedding.
In the aftermath of that, it was evident that Tracy and Caleb’s affair had ended because Ruby was still living at Mill Cottage and their relationship appeared to be very much back on track, even though Caleb had insisted they were in the middle of a divorce.
Nevertheless, Tracy realised that her marriage wasn’t working and that she wasn’t in love with Nate after experiencing some of Caleb’s thrills. Because he is Frankie’s father, she would always love him, but she had no desire to be married.
Although Nate and Tracy found it difficult to move on after the breakup, they eventually managed to mend their friendly relationship for Frankie’s benefit.
Even so, Nate’s injuries are still fresh, and in later episodes, he and Ruby get into a heated argument that makes him angry.
After some time, Nicky (Lewis Cope) convinces Ruby to apologise to Nate, and as a result of their shared hurt from Tracy and Caleb, an unexpected friendship forms between Ruby and Nate.
Although Nate is glad that he and Ruby can now communicate more easily, he is clear that he will never forgive Caleb for what he did.
Tracy, on the other hand, is depressed and lonely and turns to drink for comfort. She tries to kiss Nate when her estranged husband suddenly seems much more attractive to her with her beer goggles firmly in place.
Tracy is humiliated as he swiftly rejects her despite being agitated and not wanting her.
