When son Ben (Max Bowden) is taken into custody for a prior offense, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in EastEnders will revert to his old ways the following week.

Max has been a part of the BBC soap opera for five years when the tale begins.

Tony Clay’s character Callum Highway is upset to learn that his spouse hasn’t planned a birthday celebration as the day draws near.

Ben decides to go all out and host a surprise birthday party at the Queen Vic after receiving pressure from his daughter Lexi (Isabella Brown) and some sage advice from his father. However, the party is a complete failure.

Callum is overjoyed by the gesture, but less so when Ben is arrested for a prior offense by his cop shop colleagues when they show up to the bar.

Even though Phil insists he is innocent, his family starts to get tense, so he calls in his notorious attorney Ritchie Scott (Sian Webber).

Lexi enters as a heated confrontation is starting and demands to know the truth about her dad.

Lexi is determined that Ritchie be kept informed, so her stepfather Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) takes her to see him when he arrives.

Things don’t go well at the meeting; she becomes angry and decides to turn her back on Ben, who then phones his father and makes an enigmatic request.

Phil talks to Callum about the experience and persuades him to give his son another chance.

After growing suspicious of his behavior, Ben’s mother Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) approaches him and asks to know what has been kept a secret from the family.

Callum resolves to assist Ben’s cause later in the week by applying his professional knowledge, but will he be successful in getting Ben released?

For now, it is still to be determined!
