Coronation Street star Sally Ann Matthews joked it was ‘game over’ after he innocent plans to host a question and answer session with her fans hit a technical halt. The actress was keen to chat with fans of her and the ITV soap over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

She took to her Instagram Story with a ‘type something’ box as she said: “You know when you think no, not now, but do it anyway?” before she encouraged: “Go”. But as the questions started to come in, Sally Ann hit a stumbling block.

The soap star, known for playing Jenny Connor in Corrie, shared a string of images of herself and her beloved dog, the adorable border terrier Veto, as she struggled to figure out how to respond to the questions on her profile.

It seems that Sally Ann chose a different course of action and began live broadcasting from her Instagram profile, frightening her kid in the process. Outside of the cobblestones, the 53-year-old is blissfully wed to senior attorney Nicholas Rhodes, having exchanged vows in 1999.

Sally Ann and Nick share a home in London and are parents to two kids. While she often posts pictures of her husband on Instagram, her sons, Louis and James, are less frequently featured.

Sally Ann and Nick gleamed with pride in the summer of 2022 as they joined James for what looked like James’ graduation—he was wearing a cap and gown. She only captioned the photo, “Our boy,” and her fans and followers quickly showered her with congratulations.

Then Louis also received his university degree last summer. Sally Ann shared some pictures of her kid on Instagram from the historic day. They included him standing with his happy mother and wearing a cap and gown. With a caption for her 105,000 followers, Sally Ann said, “Mum Klaxon is very proud.” Best wishes, @louis.rhodes Xxx.

However, it seems that Louis felt embarrassed when his mother attempted to use Instagram Lives. She posted on X, the previous Twitter platform, writing, “When you get a phone call from youngest saying stop ‘Insta living,’ you know it’s game over.” Sally Ann, a mother of two, said, “Nah,” to an admirer who stated she would “regret it in the morning,” but she had no misgivings.

Since then, Sally Ann has been able to respond to inquiries from her fans. “Would you ever do Celebrity Big Brother?” inquired one of her admirers. After her appearance and audible support of co-star Colson Smith during his stay in the renowned house last month, when he placed third behind David Potts of Ibiza Weekender and Nikita Kuzmin of Strictly Come Dancing.

Releasing an image from the first episode of the show, when she attended a viewing party with co-stars Lucy Fallon and Tanisah Gorey—complete with a cardboard cutout of Colson that cost Lucy £50—Sally Ann said, “Good gried no, I’d get cancelled in no time.” I’m a celebrity, too… Her phobias of snakes, flying, and “people” also eliminated Get Me Out of Here.
