Dawn and Billy’s worst fears confirmed in Emmerdale as baby Evan is rushed to hospital

A devastating twist (Picture: ITV)

Emmerdale’s Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) receive the most devastating news a parent can hear: their kid is terminally ill. This horrific new plot is about to unfold in the Dales.

Dawn and Billy discovered a little bruise on Evan’s thigh, which led them into this uncomfortable circumstance.

Dawn brings him to see Liam since she has a feeling something is awry. She is shocked when Liam tells her to go to A&E right away.

As the infant is inspected and blood tests are ordered by the doctor, everything happens quickly. Dawn and Billy worry that they’ll be blamed for injuring him because of the severe bruise.

However, the doctor is back and with even worse news.

Evan’s condition is worse than anticipated, and a bone marrow biopsy is urgently required.

This news shocks Dawn and Billy, but worse is yet to come. As Dawn tries to comfort her son because he isn’t eating enough in preparation for his surgery, Billy comes back to inform her that he has an idea of what might be wrong, suggesting that it could be leukaemia, an autoimmune condition, or an infection.

As Evan is taken down for his biopsy, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Kim Tate (Claire King) show up at the hospital to support Dawn.

The following day, Will and Kim watch helplessly as Dawn gets the news she has been dreading and collapses to the ground: she has leukaemia.

What is tiny Evan’s prognosis given that his future is uncertain?

“I felt it was extremely difficult when I received this tale because I’d actually just had another baby in real life, and I was like, ‘Now I’m scared about my own child, seeing him grow, I don’t want something like this happening,”” actor Jay Kontzle remarked in reference to this new plot.

Everyone experiences this, but especially parents. As a result, you become much more concerned, which is why these stories in shows are so important because they force you to consider the issue more and become more aware of it. Of course, this is the whole point of it, but sometimes it irritates you because you are so preoccupied with worrying about your own children and making sure you spend enough time with them because, well, nothing is certain and you never know what’s around the corner.
