TM: Mark Charnock says Emmerdale storyline 'could go anywhere'

On Thursday’s episode of This Morning, Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock talked about the newest plotline involving his character Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk on the ITV soap opera.

On Thursday’s episode of This Morning, Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock talked about the most recent plotline involving his character Marlon Dingle.

Marlon was left feeling completely deceived and heartbroken when wife Rhona Goskirk unexpectedly thrown a curveball during her legal procedures with her ex-husband Gus Malcolms, as was recently shown on the ITV soap opera.

When Rhona turned against her ex-husband in court, “unable to lie for him” after months of suffering, Gus and Marlon were taken by surprise. Her words undoubtedly aided in his awful sentencing in court, where he was given an eight-year jail sentence before being escorted out by police.

The town was shocked by Rhona’s shocking revelation, and her marriage to Marlon was thrown into disarray. Before going to court, Rhona had consented to read aloud a victim impact statement, which would have resulted in a lesser sentence for Gus, and he had already signed papers allowing them to visit their infant daughter, Ivy.

Gus was accused for exploiting frozen embryos that Rhona and he had owned years before to their marriage, without getting her consent.

She refused to give consent when Gus told her about his plans to utilise them with his new wife Lucy since she believed they had been destroyed decades ago. But when he faked Rhona’s signature, Lucy became pregnant; tragically, though, she passed just before Ivy was born.

Since then, Rhona has been eager to assist in raising her biological daughter; nevertheless, Rhona had to take Ivy with her when Gus attempted to leave for France behind her back. Rhona was charged with abduction as a result of their fight for Ivy, but she was later exonerated, and Gus received an eight-year jail sentence for fraud.

Marlon actor Mark, 55, discussed the plot on Thursday’s This Morning. Following Rhona’s treachery in court, he acknowledged the plot “could go anywhere” and even alluded to a breakup. The actor discussed Marlon’s previous stroke narrative, saying: “He does bring it up a few times when he’s chatting to Paddy, his closest friend, and he does say: ‘This is stressing me out, and you know stress is terrible for stroke survivors’, it is, it’s not a good thing.

“However, the whole idea of the narrative, the way he responds to it, and the way they start bickering about it is that anything can happen in this situation. Marlon’s past is not good—he’s been married five times. He’s not consistent, yet he loves love.

“Playing it has been intriguing, and I love how thorough it is. It’s amazing how every screenplay you receive requires you to adjust your perspective since the audience’s perspective is always shifting.
