When Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) finds out that Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) has molested his lover Yolande (Angela Wynter), he becomes enraged and rushes towards him in EastEnders the next week.
Yolande, unable to find the right words to tell Patrick herself, confides in her close friend Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), who will then reveal the startling truth to Patrick.
When Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) inadvertently discloses that Yolande missed a doctor’s visit that he was unaware of, Patrick’s worries only intensify.
Meanwhile, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) notices her absence and questions it during the charity food truck launch.
After she advises Patrick to talk to the pastor about Yolande’s actions, he suggests that she might not be feeling well. When Patrick confronts Yolande about this, she becomes understandably enraged.
She calls Elaine and asks her to do it for her, realising she’ll never be able to bring herself to acknowledge the truth.
When Patrick tries to talk to Yolande, she locks herself in the bathroom. Yolande softly recounts what occurred over the phone, but he finds it difficult to take in the information.
He turns to charge towards Pastor Clayton, full of hate and rage, but she stops him in her tracks. They talk about her experience, and she promises to denounce him to the church authorities.
When she informs Levi (Mark Akintimehin) about the sexual assault, he is moved by her bravery and promises to help. However, when Patrick finds out that he won’t be meeting with the church leaders until the next week, he chooses to handle the situation on his own.
When he confronts the abuser in person at the community hall, Yolande starts to help him quit.
