Uneasy Meanwhile, mother Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) is being pulled farther and deeper into a cult, leaving Coronation Street’s Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) feeling more alone than ever.

Simon felt alone and self-pitying after Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) departed Weatherfield to start a new life abroad.

Simon, who was having trouble focusing, turned to drinking and going out to parties with his buddies as a diversion.

He was made aware of his alcoholism when he drove while intoxicated and sent Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) to the hospital. But even though Simon feels so bad about the whole thing, it appears that he won’t be changing in the next episodes.

Leanne is interested in a forum that Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) discovers at the beginning of the week for former members of the Altovalent Institute.

She attempts to show Leanne a post she saw, implying that the Institute shouldn’t be trusted, only to find out that it has been removed due to legal issues.

Later, when Leanne phones Rowan (Emryhs Cooper), he gets inside her brain by claiming that his bitter ex wrote the post. He then gives Leanne the opportunity to take a tour of the Institute and flee the cobbles for a moment.

Later that week, Leanne tells Simon that she made a connection at the Institute with a man named Jared, who would be pleased to assist him in setting up his food delivery service.

Leanne is thrilled when Simon informs her that Jared has agreed to meet with him and that he would need to borrow some money, but Toyah can’t help but think it’s just another con.

Leanne is determined to go to the retreat even though Toyah begs her to change her mind as she gets ready to go.

Simon is saddened to learn that Leanne departed without even saying goodbye when she finally does.

After skipping work, Simon takes a solace in alcohol, vomit up in Tim Metcalfe’s (Joe Duttine) taxi, and then makes off with the money.

How will Simon’s impending departure from the cobbles be affected by this news, because Toyah and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) are now left to take care of him?

Will Simon’s return be attributed to the cult?
