Dame Maureen Lipman celebrated a special occasion this week
Dame Maureen Lipman celebrated a special update and received an outpouring of support.
The famous soap opera actress is best known for playing Evelyn Plummer in the enduring ITV series. She became an instant popularity among the fans after joining the cast in 2018.
When Evelyn’s estranged daughter Cassandra arrived on the Cobbles last year, she was completely taken aback. The characters’ friendship was quickly restored, and now they both reside with Tyrone Dobbs and his family.
Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone in the show, wished his on-screen grandmother well on social media yesterday while Dame Maureen celebrated her 78th birthday.
He posted a picture of the two with the message, “Happy birthday, Nana. I adore you, Mo.”
Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassandra, sent a message on social media as well. The former cast member of Brookside wished Maureen a happy birthday. I’m in love with you.”
Outside of the movie industry, Dame Maureen was wed to writer Jack Rosenthal from 1974 until his passing in 2004. She remarked that Evelyn is the kind of character that her late husband would have developed, given Jack’s well-known work on Corrie.
She stated: “She’s a proper battleaxe, and she’s not really redeemed.” Evelyn began dating Guido Castro in 2008, and the two fell in love again.
But in 2021, Guido, who had Parkinson’s disease and had contracted a coronavirus at a care facility, passed away, leaving Dame Maureen devastated. The soap opera star said she is appreciative “to have had two such wonderful men” and disclosed that she used art therapy as a coping mechanism for her loss.
“My experience is just one of thousands of feeling confused and out on a limb,” she stated to Mirror Online. I let the anguish and the lingering pain pour forth uncontrollably. I have trouble falling asleep sometimes.”
Dame Maureen is still very much present on Corrie, and it doesn’t seem like she will be going anytime soon. When she decided to extend her term in 2022, she launched a furious defence of the initiative.
“I won’t hear a word against it,” she stated to Reader’s Digest. It has a cast of incredibly talented performers that receive very little guidance and little practice.
Do I feel jealous of any of my classmates? Yes, occasionally. Am I allowed to be this way? Naturally, no. Do I want to participate in sex education? Indeed, without a doubt. I apologise for committing to Corrie for one additional year. No, I’m not.
