Co-stars of Coronation Street’s Jack Carroll have stood by him as he celebrates a significant achievement off the cobbles. Fans of Weatherfield will be aware that the comedian and actor began filming the ITV serial earlier this year in the role of Bobby, Carla Connor’s nephew.

To Carla’s amazement, Rob Donovan’s son—who is now serving a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre—showed up at her apartment. Rob revealed that he hadn’t notified Carla of his son’s existence until lately, but he had spoken with her imprisoned sister.

Since then, Bobby has established a pleasant home with his aunt and secured employment at Underworld, her factory. But lately, he’s been preoccupied with learning the truth about Lauren Bolton, his new romantic interest, who vanished out of nowhere. The case is now a murder investigation, which Bobby foolishly impacted with a false statement made by Carla.

However, Jack developed and performed in his own comedic short, Mobility, before joining Corrie. The former Britain’s Got Talent runner-up was excited to learn in March that the film was shortlisted for a Bafta TV Award.

A few weeks later, on Sunday, May 12, 2024, Jack was one of the well-known attendees at London’s Royal Festival Hall, where the elite of the tiny screen gathered to commemorate the previous year in television.

Jack was overjoyed to learn that Mobility had won the coveted Short Form award. The serial actor posted a photo of himself in the empty auditorium holding his golden award on Instagram, writing, “I should add BAFTA winner to my resume.” Totally stunned and honoured.”

Among the first to express their happiness at Jack’s announcement were his co-stars in Corrie, Jude Riordan writing, “Amazing Jack.” Shared by Alex Bain: “Amazing newsman! VERY BIG CONGRATS TO YOU.” In response, Claire Sweeney said, “This is just fabulous.” After receiving happy emoji responses from Elle Mulvaney and Paddy Bever, Colson Smith quipped, “Can I borrow it?”

And his supporters answered right away as well. Says @staceyclairehl: “I’m so happy for you! This is quite clever.” @the_cjpeacock said, “Wonderful work, Jack.” “Excellent, well done Jack,” said @jobartlett85. @angpatellis answered, saying, “Wonderful Jack! Excellent work.” Added by @gigglesandgames: “Wow! Many congratulations!”

However, Jack acknowledged that he wasn’t working alone when he wrote on social media earlier this year, “Huge thanks and congratulations to co-writer Tom Gregory, director Akaash Meeda, and producer Sam Ward as well as the brilliant cast and crew and David Simpson and Tiger Aspect and the BBC.” That was Jack’s first statement regarding Mobility’s nomination.
