Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt confirms offscreen exit from soap after attack

The character that seems to be leaving Weatherfield on Coronation Street, an ITV soap opera that airs on Virgin Media in Ireland, was fully disclosed by Sarah Platt on Monday night, when she said they will not be returning.

An apparent off-screen departure from the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, which airs on Virgin Media in Ireland, was made public on Monday night when a character on the show stated another was going.

Days after a vicious assault that resulted in blackmail, a Weatherfield resident revealed a character’s departure behind closed doors. The evil Nathan Curtis was permanently eliminated, Sarah Platt informed her brother David Platt.

Viewers were informed last week that Gary Windass was responsible for the attack on him, and Sarah told David that the incident was sufficient to drive him from the area. Sarah said she simply knew since there was no reason for Nathan to stay, in response to David’s question about how she could have known he had gone or was about to leave permanently.

Although Sarah felt very positive the character was gone, the departure has not been publicised by the programme. Of course, the real reason she suspected David would be leaving was something she had withheld from him at first.

Following Gary’s identification as the assailant, Sarah made Nathan an offer of £2,000 to keep silent and go. Bethany Platt, Sarah’s daughter, was devastated by Nathan’s homecoming and has come to believe he is responsible for Lauren Bolton’s death.

Seven years ago, Nathan departed from the programme after his incarceration. Bethany was one of the victims he groomed as a child sex offender. He had assaulted her both physically and sexually before attempting to sell her into doing sex work overseas.

Following Nathan’s recent return, Sarah, David, and Gary all wanted him gone, which is what sparked Gary’s assault. However, Nathan used extortion to get Sarah to give him £10,000. Gary then paid Nathan back, but he was informed he had to leave permanently and could not come back.

With Nathan’s potential connection to the Lauren murder investigation, Sarah seems to be certain that it’s finished and that he has moved on. But has Nathan actually left the show so quickly? If not, will Sarah and Gary later regret thinking they should have paid him off?
