Osian Morgan, star of Waterloo Road, has been recruited by Emmerdale for a new plotline in which his character will become friends with Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).
In the twelfth season of the BBC One school drama, Osian portrayed the menacing assassin Myles Massey, who caused chaos at the school the minute he showed there and made it plain that he wasn’t there to make friends.
When he abandoned Preston Walters (Noah Valentine) to die, his villainy escalated. Later, in the dramatic season finale, he started a fire that ultimately claimed Danny Lewis’s (Adam Abbou) life.
Osian will now be appearing in Emmerdale in the next weeks as another individual who is going to upend the status quo, but this time it will be among the Dingles.
A source told The Sun, “He’s coming in as a new pal who turns Samson Dingle’s head.” They become close friends and begin to arrange a grand tour of Europe, but this new boy stands up for Lydia and Sam. He intends to destabilise the Dales.
Osian has experience in the soap opera industry; he previously portrayed the contentious character Aaron Monk in Pobol y Cwm.
Osian previously told Metro.co.uk, “So far in my career I’m just being typecast with absolutely horrible, nasty, disgusting characters.”
“When I portrayed Aaron in Pobol y Cwm, he had the most endearing side, was adored by all, and had some beautiful, touching storylines. But, he also had this extreme, right-wing, fascist plot, and everyone just detested him.”
Although Sam Hall recently refuted claims that Samson was going to be killed off, Osian’s Emmerdale casting comes amid reports that the actor is expected to quit the show.
“Well, I don’t want to give too much away, but Samson has some big stuff coming up,” he remarked in an interview with Inside Soap Magazine. But don’t worry—he is most certainly not going to disappear!
He has some interesting tales coming up, and I was thrilled to see the scripts when I first saw them.
From the age of five, Sam has portrayed the character of Samson, who was born on screen.
Samson’s mother Alice (Ursula Holden-Gill) fought cancer the whole time she was pregnant and postponed receiving chemotherapy until after giving birth.
Six months later, Sam Dingle (James Hooton) gave Alice a lethal dosage of morphine to help her die, but Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) took the fall for it in order to save baby Samson from losing both of his parents.
He became a parent in the last several years when he became pregnant with baby Esther with Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).
