He said to The Mirror, in response to a question concerning the forthcoming anniversary of the soap opera, “I know quite a lot and I can’t tell you who exactly – but when I found out, I was very surprised that they would come back.”

The actors Emma Barton and Jamie Borthwick, who portray Honey Mitchell and Jay Brown, also shared some teases about what viewers may anticipate from the next episode.

“We have no doubt that Chris, as always, has something really fantastic in store. It’s thrilling. We’re all so happy to be there and involved, Emma told the Mirror.

Jamie went on, “But we have no idea what it is! I believe it’s kept under such tight wraps that we’re not even sure whether people who know know! It is secured by a lock.”

The remarks come after EastEnders executive Chris Clenshaw made some allusions on the probable comeback of a few key characters.

“As we approach our 40th year, I think the nostalgic element means a lot,” he said to The Sun.

“Into the autumn and the end of the year, we’ve got quite a few treats coming up.”

He said, “Maybe,” when asked if any previous stars would appear in the BBC serial opera again. Everything is dependent on the plot and the characters’ locations.

“But it has to come from character, it has to come from story.”

Fans with keen eyes may have already noticed hints regarding who may make a comeback.

Chris responded, “It would depend when they’re looking back from, but probably,” when asked if he had been hiding clues in scripts.

The 40th has been planned for a while, and Christmas is almost here.

There is a board in the narrative office, and everything is connected to it.

“It has to fit together like a tapestry board,” the speaker said.
