EastEnders legend Ross Kemp tipped for 40th anniversary role

…though not in the capacity one might expect.

Legend of EastEnders Ross Kemp is expected to make a comeback for the show’s 40th anniversary.

Though the premise of the special live EastEnders episode to commemorate the milestone is presently unknown, the BBC revealed earlier this month that it will air.

The Sun reports that Kemp, who portrayed Grant Mitchell on the serial opera, is being considered for a comeback, but not in the role that one may anticipate.

As part of the festivities, Kemp is apparently hosting a special one-off documentary instead of playing Grant again. The show will reportedly include interviews with both current and former soap opera actors.

Diane Parish and Scott Maslen will make appearances as Denise Fox and Jack Branning, respectively, while Kemp’s involvement will be outside of the main serial opera.

Prior to the 40th anniversary live program, the couple discussed their sentiments with Digital Spy during the National Television Awards on Wednesday, September 11.

Parish said, “At first, I was a little scared.” I’m not growing any younger. I had a few more of my faculties with me when I performed that for the first time. They’ve been done previously by us. We are aware of its operation. “The majority of the cast members have experience performing live.”

“It’s a different thing for us because we do a recorded format,” Maslen continued.

In 1990, Kemp made his television debut on EastEnders and departed the program after almost nine years. He made brief trips back to Walford in 2005, 2006, and 2016.
