one important element regarding Gail Platt’s much awaited departure from Coronation Street appears to have been disclosed by one actress in the program. After an amazing 50 years, Helen Worth, who plays Gail, is scheduled to leave the show. The soap opera executives have hinted at a poignant parting plot.

Plot twist: The departure of the legendary figure sets up a “major” new story for the Platt family. Gail’s ex-husband Martin Platt, played by Sean Wilson, was originally supposed to be a part of the plot; however, he was forced to quit the production for “personal reasons” after filming his sequences.

But according to a new development, Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Dee-Dee Bailey, could have unintentionally revealed a crucial plot detail about Gail’s departure. She shared a late-night behind-the-scenes picture of the well-known street on her Instagram Story.

“Nothing like a night shoot to make you regret dancing until 2am,” the post said, adding an emoticon of tears. The Liverpool Echo notes that a prominent estate agent’s sign in front of No. 8 Coronation Street in the photo suggests the home is for sale.

The address is currently occupied by David Platt, Gail’s son, his wife Shona, and their kids, Max and Lily. Nick Tilsley and Sarah Platt, Gail’s other children, each have their own homes where they reside with their own families.

In June, Helen announced her intention to quit the soap opera, saying, “After celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world, this felt like the perfect time to leave the show.” The last fifty years have gone fairly quickly, and I don’t believe it really hit me that I’m going.”

Fans, however, have expressed worries about a possible dark turn to Gail’s exit narrative. Speculating about the character’s future on social media, one viewer wrote: “Dear #Corrie producers… whatever you do, DO NOT kill off Gail Platt.”

Another expressed similar fear: “This worries me because it seems like she wants Gail to die instead. To be honest, I’m afraid.”
