Emmerdale star Zoe Henry describes Rhona’s ‘hell’ as old face returns

It’s a surprise – but not a good one (Picture: ITV)

Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) in Emmerdale recently received amazing news that he was officially discharged during a hospital appointment regarding his stroke recovery.

Happy, Marlon left the consultant’s office and ran into Gus (Alan McKenna), the former husband of Rhona (Zoe Henry), and his expectant wife Lucy (Charlotte Asprey).

The last time we saw Gus, he was visiting the village to ask Rhona’s permission to use some embryos they had frozen during their failed attempt to conceive. Although Rhona declined to give her consent, it appears that Gus proceeded to forge it by previously obtaining Rhona’s passport.

Since he can’t tell Rhona yet, Marlon is currently keeping this a secret, but the truth will eventually come to light.

Zoe Henry explained to us how her character responds to the news that Lucy is going to give birth to a child who shares Rhona’s genetic makeup shortly.

“Really, it’s just the shock,” she clarified. Something that she firmly believed she had put to rest fifteen years ago has returned and is getting closer. How can you even begin to realize how big that is?

The news is extremely shocking and it feels like someone has taken the rug out from under her. There is no right or wrong way to respond to it. How on earth do you comprehend that?

Viewers will soon witness Rhona and Gus face-to-face in scenes Zoe called “explosive.”

She is furious, just like you would be. No, she said. He did make an effort to act morally, follow the proper procedures, and obtain authorization. She gave it a great deal of thought before saying no. Naturally, he just went ahead and completed the task anyhow, which is fraud and entails all the actions you should avoid. She is enraged, and it’s very explosive.

According to Zoe, Rhona is going through “hell.”

“Learning that the baby you rejected is about to be born, and then seeing it arrive.” She argued, “How could anyone escape that unharmed and not be profoundly impacted by it?” “He’s stolen and lied, and it’s hell.”

Rhona finds the whole thing very hard to take in, and Zoe remarked that her character isn’t sure if it would have been better if Marlon and Gus hadn’t crossed paths and if she hadn’t learned about the baby.

They were attempting to escape, and they most likely would have done so if Marlon hadn’t noticed them. While it would be simple to argue that it would be better if she never knew, the idea that your child is out there somewhere and you are unable to share in its life is unsettling, so I believe it is probably appropriate that she is aware of it.

Rhona is aware that she must use extreme caution while around Gus.

She is aware of how challenging he can be. Although she is cautious around him, she is not afraid of him,’ she remarked.

She is moving cautiously. I believe she has an innate desire to be involved in that baby’s life, whether she would acknowledge it or not.

The plot of this story is expected to develop over a long period of time and involve many twists and turns. The moral complexity of the story will lead viewers on a journey where their sympathies for the characters may change over time.

“I truly believe there is a long road ahead,” Zoe remarked. Nothing is ever simple or clear-cut, is it? However, I believe that everyone involved is in a very difficult situation here. It ought to be very entertaining to watch.
