Tony Maudsley, a star of Coronation Street, has landed a brand-new gig off the cobbles.

Since playing George Shuttleworth 2020, the 55-year-old actor has been a regular on the show. Tony is also well-known for his role as ITV’s Kenneth Du Beke in Benidorm.

But Tony just posted a picture from the upcoming performance on Instagram along with news of his most recent engagement.

He wrote, “AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 WEIGHS.”

I narrated a brand-new series that offers an insightful look at how different cultures handle and interpret obesity worldwide. Japan is the first destination! begins on Tuesday, January 16 at 9 p.m. on Channel 4.

Tony’s Corrie co-stars were quick to congratulate Cassie Plummer’s character Claire Sweeney, saying, “Ooohhhh can’t wait for this.”

“I am looking forward to seeing this,” commented @pdunn7955.

This comes after Tony, the actor, revealed his grief after learning that his buddy who had gone missing had passed away.

He uploaded a missing poster of his buddy Michael McGarrigle on Tuesday, January 9. Michael was last seen on Sunday morning in Glasgow.

On X/Twitter, Tony urgently appealed to his followers for assistance in locating McGarrigle, claiming that he was “part of the family.”

After a few hours, Tony broke the heartbreaking news of his friend’s passing.

He said, “Thank you so much to everyone for all your efforts in reposting our appeal to find Michael yesterday,” and included a photo of the two of them. I regret to inform you that we learned late yesterday night that our lovely buddy had passed away.

“Our entire Benidorm family is inconsolable, and we shall sincerely miss him.” Michael, RIP.
