In Emmerdale, Heath Hope’s (Sebastian Dowling) father, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), was understandably devastated when his son died in a car accident on New Year’s Eve.
Bob’s sadness is further exacerbated by his conviction that his daughter Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) killed her brother.
Since the tragedy, Cathy has insisted that she was not the driver when the vehicle drove off the road.
After Cathy had grabbed the vehicle and drove it out of the village, Heath and Angelica King (Rebecca Bakes) took over the wheel because they wanted to get to the Hotten party quickly and were annoyed that Cathy was driving so slowly.
Despite Angel’s denials during the police interrogation, after the intense emotions of Heath’s burial, she eventually broke down and told her mother Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) that Cathy was speaking the truth.
After Angel’s confession, Nicola wants to discuss the family’s future with Jimmy (Nick Miles) in subsequent episodes.
To divert attention from Angel, Jimmy, however, determines that his daughter must be kept safe at all costs and keeps blaming Cathy in public for what happened to Heath. Nicola is worried when he also orders Angel to lie to the police once again.
Bob is still having a lot of trouble dealing with what occurred, despite Cathy’s repeated assurances that she is speaking the truth. His son was killed by his daughter, and he is unable to forgive her, which has caused his whole family to fall apart.
Jimmy feels awful for convincing Angel to lie after seeing how broken Bob is. He confides in Nicola about his feelings for Bob.
When Angel overhears this, he finally decides to confess the truth and walks over to the B&B.
How will Bob respond when he finds out that Jimmy and Nicola have been lying to him and have exacerbated his family’s suffering, on top of the fact that Cathy has been speaking the truth the whole time?
