The actress of Coronation Street, Kate Ford, has shared details about her newest project, which will see Tracy Barlow, her character, start a sensual relationship. Steve McDonald, Tracy’s spouse, is reportedly about to experience grief when his wife cheats on him—with his football idol.

As fans of the ITV soap opera have already seen, Tracy asked for some decorating done at No. 1, and when a lethargic Steve failed to deliver, she brought in former football player Tommy Orpington, who was more than willing to take up the task.

Watchers may recall that on Christmas Day, years after his most last appearance in the ITV soap opera, Tommy made a quick visit in Weatherfield. He also stopped by Preston’s Petals, where Tracy was enjoying a glass of wine, after a tense day at the Barlows.

Tommy took advantage of the flower shop’s opening to buy a last-minute present for his mother. Unaware that he had been regarded for years as a Weatherfield County great, he ended up handing Tracy one of his cards for his new venture as a painter and decorator.

However, because Tommy and Tracy are now spending more time together and Steve is visiting his daughter Emma Brooker in France, it soon becomes apparent that Tommy’s focus isn’t just on business. Tracy is particularly attracted to Tommy because of their intense sexual chemistry.

Tommy seems to be unreprimanded as Tracy prolongs their connection after he confesses his feelings for her and leans in to kiss her. Has Steve made a major mistake by letting his idol in on his wife as the two start a passionate relationship?

Actress Kate told the Mirror about her newest plot: “Tracking Tracy’s sensual side is tough for a 46-year-old lady. It’s not easy. To be honest, I don’t believe that’s as difficult to play in your 30s. I’m attempting to keep it from becoming really vampire-like since it would be excessive.”

Kate, however nervous, says she’s excited about her love scenes: “It’s been a while since I’ve had a plot as substantial as this one. I was a little anxious since Simon Gregson, who plays Steve, and I hadn’t had a kissing moment in over a decade. The first thought that comes to mind is, “Oh my goodness, this is really strange—I’ve only known this person for five days.” I had to go a bit outside of my comfort zone, but after I did it, I felt OK.”

Kate’s marriage ended nine years ago, and she is now raising her fifteen-year-old son Otis alone. Before being divorced in 2015, she was married to TV producer Jon Connerty from 2007 until 2015. The soap opera diva travels from her South London home to the Corrie set in Salford. This has always been the case.
