After discovering that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) had cheated on her with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) in EastEnders, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) was upset and has tried everything to put her distance from him.
Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) revealed Phil’s adultery at the Queen Vic, and Kat promptly broke up with him and moved out of their home.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t remain at the Slater’s home for very long because of its extreme crowding, leaving Kat unsure of what to do.
Surprisingly, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) offered her and her sons a rent-free apartment to live in while she worked to free up money from Phil’s enterprises.
After they ended up kissing passionately, things between Nish and Kat quickly got far more difficult than merely landlord and tenant.
This followed a horrible date that was cut short by an enraged Phil who called Kat derogatory things.
In later moments, Kat will be reminded of Phil’s treatment of her when he makes an effort to win her back and is anxious to make amends.
When she discovers what is inside a surprise present he gave her, she becomes enraged.
She rushes over to give Phil his money back, but when he asks her to return home, she is taken aback.
Kat makes it plain that she won’t be returning, feeling too devastated by his actions to even entertain the idea of forgiving him.
Distressed and alone, Kat goes to an equally alone Nish, and the two celebrate their independence together. But are they really as happy as they seem?
