Since receiving the heartbreaking diagnosis of the illness last year, the adored figure has been readying himself to lose the majority of his physical capabilities.

As frequent viewers of ITV will recall, Paul was also informed that he only had a few months to live. That was the cherry on top.

Paul has been compelled to use a wheelchair in recent months due to his gradual loss of limb control.

Despite his increasing symptoms, Paul married his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), with whom he has had an intermittent romance, determined to make his final moments meaningful.

But as his speech gradually fades away the following week, what will he do?

As we approach, Paul is slurring his words, and his new PA is inexperienced because of Moses’ abrupt departure earlier in the year.

Although Billy tries to downplay it, the PA is obviously having trouble understanding him.

Sadly for him, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) is more astute and informs him that they must acknowledge the truth: Paul’s speech is failing.

Billy informs a horrified Summer that he is hesitant to discuss Paul’s decline with him because he knows Paul’s husband has previously made preparations to commit himself when his health significantly deteriorates.

Later on, tensions develop as Paul begs Summer not to give up on her aspirations because of him after learning of her intentions to postpone her American course.

Later on in the Rovers karaoke night, Paul tells Billy, who is concerned, that he has put them down to perform “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.

Is Paul able to pull it off?

How about Billy and Summer?

Viewers of the Manchester-based show are aware that Paul had intended to terminate his life on his own terms, even if this is still up in the air.

Paul took began asking former addict Abi Webster (Sally Carman) to get him some drugs since he couldn’t bear to watch his steady decline.

Abi eventually consented to ask her former dealer Dean Turnbull (Anthony Crank) for morphine after first refusing.

Billy finally learned of Paul’s scheme, and the couple discussed the builder’s inner suffering in a heartfelt chat.

Billy vowed to put an end to his suffering when necessary, despite first refusing to participate in Paul’s suicide plan.

Billy’s conscience has been troubled by the vow, but will he actually follow through on it when the time comes?

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:00 p.m. on ITV, Coronation Street airs.
