Coronation Street’s Lauren makes Joel discovery after baby heartache amid huge return

A character comeback is happening elsewhere, as a preview for Coronation Street has showed the scene where Lauren Bolton is met by Joel Deering in the hospital next week.

Joel Deering of Coronation Street will go after Lauren Bolton once more the next week following his disgusting acts in the most recent episode of the ITV soap opera.

The character will attempt to dupe Lauren into removing a document that would reveal his misdeeds and the real connection between them. Joel tries to comfort Lauren as she struggles to deal with the tragedies of the past, telling her that she needs him and that she should follow his instructions even if he is the one responsible for her distress. This encourages Lauren to make a discovery.

Viewers witnessed his terrifying visit to Weatherfield on Friday, where he was seen threatening to mug pregnant Lauren. He promised Lauren he would assist her escape to Ireland, but this week he made a terrible choice that would put Lauren and her pregnant child in danger.

Joel seems to want Lauren out of the way, but it’s unclear if he’s actually assisting Lauren in her escape, even if it’s obvious he doesn’t want Lauren to have the kid. Following Joel’s attack on Lauren in February, viewers learned last month that she was still alive and hiding.

In the flashbacks, it was revealed that Joel had been quietly preparing Lauren for months by forcing her into a sexual relationship and rewarding her with presents and cash to remain quiet. However, he assaulted Lauren viciously and nearly killed her when she asked to leave.

Joel learned last month that Lauren was expecting his child and also learned the truth about her actual destiny. Now that Joel has placed Lauren up in an apartment, Lauren is back in Weatherfield and claims to be staying with a friend.

Joel planned the mugging on Friday, which turned the situation sour and left Lauren without her ID, phone, or keys. Joel rebuked Lauren’s desperate attempt to flee, telling her to calm down before surreptitiously smashing several tablets and adding them to her soup.

Fans were outraged only a few days prior when he looked up birth control pills online, making it obvious that he intended for Lauren’s unborn child to perish. Knowing that the pills would cause early labor, he left her alone in the locked apartment. Shortly after, Lauren passed out from agony.

After her friend Max Turner discovered her, he hurried her to the hospital, where Lauren was informed that her waters had burst and that she was in an uncontrollably early labor. Later, Joel and partner Dee-Dee Bailey went to the hospital, where Joel was horrified to hear Lauren’s kid had survived in spite of his horrible deeds.

Joel visits Lauren with a purpose, as seen by the teaser for next week, when he shows up with a balloon and a new phone for her. But she quickly realizes why he’s actually there and sees right through him.

She needs to erase the email she has planned to be sent to DS Swain during the next several weeks, he says, adding that he wants to assist and that she will need him. The email identifies Joel as her assailant and describes his actions in detail.

Joel is desperate because he needs the email to disappear since Lauren is now unable to travel to Ireland and has stated that she would only remove it if Joel assisted her in leaving. Will Lauren agree and destroy the evidence when she realizes why he’s actually there, or will she let the email get out and expose him, perhaps resulting in the revelation of what he did to her and the baby?
