Stars of EastEnders Emma Barton and Jamie Borthwick have stoked rumors of more significant comebacks by disclosing information about the show’s impending 40th anniversary.

Emma, who portrays Honey Mitchell, hinted at something in an interview with The Mirror: “We just know Chris is going to have something very exciting planned, as he always does.” It’s thrilling. We’re all quite excited to be there and take part in it.”

Jamie, who plays Jay Brown, said, “But we don’t know what it is!” while maintaining a tight-lipped expression. I believe it’s kept under such tight wraps that we’re not even sure whether people who know know! It’s secured with a key.”

Chris Clenshaw, the show’s executive producer, has revealed that the soap opera has been making subliminal allusions to possible comebacks: “The 40th has been in the works for quite some time.” The nostalgic quality is quite significant.”

This has sparked conjecture about which well-known figures could return, particularly in light of the recent revelations that David Wicks and Chrissie Watts will be making a comeback this year. Fans are on the edge of their seats as Matt Di Angelo, who portrays Dean Wicks on EastEnders, teases “big surprises” that lie ahead.

He shared some information on the 40th anniversary festivities of the soap opera in an interview with The Mirror during the Radio Times Soap Awards: “I know quite a lot and I can’t tell you who exactly – but when I found out, I was very surprised that they would come back.”

Executive producer Chris of EastEnders, who oversaw the historic comebacks of Ian Beale and Cindy, said why he felt it was important to bring back beloved characters: “It’s not just because of the lovely reaction.” Everything is dependent on the plot and the characters’ locations. It is the history of the show as we approach our 40th year. I find the nostalgia aspect to be quite significant. However, it must originate from the plot and the character.”

This comes after Max Bowden, an actor on EastEnders, disclosed his reason for leaving the BBC soap opera, admitting he was finding it difficult to manage the demanding production schedule.

It was officially announced in December of last year that the actor was departing the job after almost four years. Max had worked on some difficult scenarios, such as the heartbreaking sequences he filmed with Danielle Harold, whose character Lola Pearce passed away due to a brain tumor.

The 29-year-old actor has admitted that he decided to bid farewell to the BBC soap opera because he was “very tired” after covering emotionally taxing stories for “nearly 600 episodes.” Ben Mitchell, the son of Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), was portrayed by the actor between 2019 and 2024 until his character was imprisoned in America.

Max said on The Lewis Nicholls Show that he was quitting. “The most important thing was that my time was ready,” he remarked. As I already mentioned, I was really exhausted and not myself.” The Max that was seated in front of you today was rather spectral, and they acknowledged that I saw that.”
