Coronation Street’s Bernie’s downfall ‘sealed’ as Paul death secret to be exposed

It appears that Bernie Winter of Coronation Street will have her deception revealed, as in Friday’s episode, one character will discover the truth regarding Paul Foreman’s last moments.

There will be drama on Coronation Street, as there are strong indications that Bernie Winter’s most recent deception will be revealed.

Fans are aware that Bernie asked her son Paul Foreman’s husband Billy Mayhew to say farewell in his last hours. Billy was unable to reach the hospital in time, and Paul succumbed to his motor neurone disease struggle.

Billy started saying farewell to his boyfriend over the phone in tearful circumstances, calling Summer Spellman, who was near Paul’s bedside. Billy was unaware that Paul had already passed away when he talked, despite Bernie’s insistence that he was still alive.

She pretended that Paul was still alive while Billy was speaking, even though she knew he had died away, so he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to say what he needed to. As Billy said his goodbyes, Summer and Gemma Winter were in shock, having to pretend Paul was still alive as they grieved for him.

Since then, the three of them have concealed it, and Summer has struggled with her decision to keep Billy in the dark. Bernie made the choice, and on Friday, she pleaded with the two to keep quiet.

However, Todd Grimshaw quickly learnt the truth from Summer and Bernie, despite Bernie’s request that he remain silent. However, it appears that Billy will find out the truth in due course.

Actress Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie, has intimated that Billy may find out from Todd or perhaps Summer because of Summer’s breakdown under pressure. She hinted that Bernie’s falsehoods would surface in interviews with The Mirror and other media because she was afraid of what would happen to her reputation.

She gave the following explanation: “I was a little worried that everyone would ask, ‘What the hell is she playing at?'” However, I believe it was all done in the heat of the moment to keep Billy and Paul safe.

It soon becomes clear that Bernie will not be able to maintain the secret. That’s the problem about grieving, you never know what’s around the corner. She tells Todd all about it.

“She just forgets to do it, even if she doesn’t really want to. If she had the option, I believe she would have carried that to her grave. However, her sadness becomes too great, and she really becomes a little cruel.”

She continued, hinting at an impending argument: “Bernie and Billy are going to get into a heated argument over how they will honour and remember Paul. With Bernie’s unique ideas, it should be an intriguing ride. Bernie isn’t really fond of the funeral arrangements.

“Despite the fact that Paul received a lot of comfort from Billy’s baptism, she doesn’t truly believe Paul was a man of God. We shot this enormous rave over two nights, which was a very amazing release, and she essentially organises a rave to remember him. She gets everyone involved. We were all really exhausted.”
