Helen Flanagan diagnosed with psychosis after struggling with split from partner

The actress Helen Flanagan disclosed that she had a diagnosis of psychosis.

The former Coronation Street star, who has previously starred on shows like I’m A Celebrity and Love Island, posted an update about her life on Instagram and opened out about the severe mental health problem she was going through.

She said in a long piece that she thinks her “emotional struggle” following her divorce from long-term husband Scott Sinclair in 2022 is partially to blame for her psychosis.

Three children, two-year-old Charlie, five-year-old Delilah, and eight-year-old Matilda, are shared by the ex-couple.

She stated she “struggled mental health wise” throughout Christmas and “didn’t feel that much different when I took the kid away for new years” in her first Instagram post in months.

She said that she was about to embark on a theatrical tour and that she had chosen to take medication in order to “cope better with being a working single mother of three and I was emotionally struggling with the breakup from the father of my kids” after returning from the trip and feeling that she was still having trouble.

Helen, who has had prior diagnoses for bipolar illness and ADHD, claimed that she experienced a “very bad reaction” to the ADHD medication she was taking, which “sent me into a psychosis for a few days that I didn’t know I was in.”

Hallucinations and delusions are possible symptoms of psychosis, a dangerous mental illness that affects people differently.

Helen expressed her “heartbreak” at not being psychologically well enough to start her theatre tour rehearsals, saying, “I’ve always been a professional actress, but with the support of my amazing parents, I needed to stay at home and feel better for myself and my kids.”

“I feel like I’ve worked on myself with things that were quite tough for me, but I feel lighter now. Therapy can be amazing.” In any case, compassion and kindness are requested.

Friends and supporters flocked to Helen’s help, including Girls Aloud actress Nadine Coyle, who tweeted that she was “sending loads of love.”

Brooke Levi, Coronation Street star Carol Vorderman said she was “sending huge love my little meerkat angel,” while Vincent added it was “nice to see you back, my girl.”

Helen previously told The Sun that her split from Scott in 2022 was “a mutual decision and, personally, I felt as a mum that this was the best thing for my children.” Helen and Scott had been together for 13 years.

“I want them to be in healthy environments and to witness healthy relationships.” If you’re not happy, I believe it shows through to them.

“I love Scott and I know he loves me,” she continued, “but I guess we just don’t like each other very much right now.”

“It’s pointless to pretend that we’re the best of friends when we’re not because we don’t really speak.”
