Roy faces death as Coronation Street trailer reveals ‘episodes unlike anything ever done’

In anticipation of an exciting week that will see the identity of Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murderer revealed, Coronation Street has released an incredible new teaser.

The week of special episodes this week on the ITV soap opera has been building since Lauren vanished from her precinct apartment at the end of February.

Since then, the renowned café employee Roy Cropper (David Neilson) has been the focus of attention as her killer; however, in recent weeks, despicable paedophile Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) has come to the attention of the police.

Long-time watchers will recall that he was in charge of grooming and raping Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in 2017. Her family has been actively working to get rid of him from Weatherfield ever since his return earlier this month.

How far will they push it?

Meanwhile, Jack Carroll’s character, Carla Barlow, and actress Allison King’s character Bobby Crawford are about to have their falsehoods exposed after they tampered with the legal system to try to clean Roy’s reputation.

Unaware that far-right fanatic Griff Reynolds (Michael Condron), Lauren’s biggest nemesis, has been moved to the same jail and is plotting retaliation, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) will keep fighting for his justice.

As Griff seeks to coerce Roy into confessing to murder, Roy finds himself in severe jeopardy. Will he survive to deliver a bacon sandwich again?

In another scene, Vicky Myers’ character, DS Lisa Swain, is burdened with the investigation and finds it difficult to choose who to blame. There could be more to this mystery than first seems, as Corrie has hinted!

The whole case is called into question when a crucial piece of evidence surfaces.

The next installments will take place over the course of five nights, with the first four concentrating on the same day as seen from the perspectives of several important people.

The consequences of the events will be shown in the week’s last episode, however Lauren’s destiny is still unknown.

“This week is so gripping and unlike anything Coronation Street has done before, in terms of the story-telling,” executive producer Iain McLeod said of the narrative.

“It features some of our favourite characters right in the middle of the drama and is modern and fantastically exciting.” Our whole family has been gripped by the murder mystery surrounding Lauren, and this week’s race against time to solve it before Roy suffers a terrible injury is so captivating and deftly written.

“It is the launchpad for a massive new chapter in that narrative,” he said, “so if you want to keep trying to piece together this exciting puzzle, you really won’t want to miss it!”
