As the truth about Lauren Bolton is ready to be exposed, Coronation Street viewers are left terrified for one of the most famous characters on the soap opera. Now that the teenager has been absent for a few weeks, the investigation that started out as a missing person’s case has evolved into a murder investigation.

Lauren was fired by Roy from Roy’s Rolls, and she was last seen in Weatherfield on February 23. Afterwards, the proprietor of the café paid her a visit and gave her some more money to help her get by. Subsequently, however, the teenager had a visit at home from an unidentified figure that the public never saw.

Her new love interest and Carla Connor’s nephew Bobby discovered her apartment unlocked and hauntingly vacant, and she hasn’t been seen alive since.

And while Bobby did report Lauren missing to the authorities, the investigation into her disappearance didn’t really get underway until Sean Tully saw blood on the drapes when inspecting the apartment. And the missing person case turned into a murder investigation once it was determined that the blood belonged to Lauren.

A few weeks later, with Roy incarcerated and awaiting a murder trial, Corrie has announced a “unprecedented” special week of episodes that will culminate the Weatherfield mainstay’s prison nightmare and place recently returned predator Nathan Curtis squarely on the police’s radar as viewers learn the true events of the fateful night Lauren vanished.

Fans of Corrie can see how the week will unfold in this suspenseful new teaser from ITV Studios. The show will be aired across five nights starting on Monday, May 27, with the first four episodes revisiting the same day via the perspectives of various characters.

Viewers see Sarah resolute in her efforts to free daughter Bethany of her malevolent ex-abuser Nathan, who has been resurfacing. Sarah is prepared to take any and all risks in order to establish Nathan’s involvement in Lauren’s abduction, especially since Bethany has threatened to leave Weatherfield.

As they work feverishly to clean Roy’s reputation, Carla and Bobby are under pressure, charged of subverting the process of justice. However, DS Swain is also pursuing Nathan, and the evidence against him is growing. Is the mystery behind this case deeper than it first seems, or are the police ready to bring their target down?

Meanwhile, far-right activist Griff returns to Weatherfield jail, where Roy is being held without charge in anticipation of his trial for the murder of Lauren, while Dee-dee battles for justice for Roy. Griff decides to attempt and coerce Roy into making a confession since he has grudges to be settled and wants retribution. Griff is out for blood, believing him to be Lauren’s murderer, and it doesn’t take long to see that Roy is in serious danger.

However, when Roy’s life is in jeopardy, viewers will be shocked to learn of an important piece of information that may clear the innocent café owner’s identity. In Friday’s episode, the week comes to a close as a new day breaks and the mystery surrounding Lauren’s destiny keeps becoming revealed.

After detecting a tell-tale detail in the teaser, Corrie fans have been left terrified for Roy. “Wait, this is the same song Roy played for Hayley when she died… please nooooo,” said @erla_loveee.

But since she made an appearance in the teaser with the necklace that used to belong to Lauren, they have also come up with a fresh scenario involving an unexpected suspect.

Says @paularichards75: “I had an idea. Hope is wearing a necklace similar to Lauren’s. Wasn’t she just talking to someone on the internet a while back???? In addition, @townende77 said, “OMG hope got necklace from Lauren.” Added @LoRainieCross: “I’m going to name it! Hope Stape was Lauren’s killer! #Corrie.
