Nicola Thorp, a Coronation Street star, and Nikesh Patel welcomed their first child together.

The 35-year-old former actress shared the good news on social media, but she didn’t let the occasion pass without bringing attention to the destruction caused by the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.

She started her social media post with, “We are thrilled to announce that we recently welcomed our beautiful baby daughter into the world.”

It’s true what they say about giving birth being an emotional rollercoaster. We feel everything from heartbroken to infatuated.

Currently, social media may be a challenging area. If your timeline resembles ours in the slightest, it is replete with pictures of infants and kids perishing in battle or having to live in constant terror and peril.

Sharing our news about her doesn’t feel appropriate until we also express our gratitude for our baby’s safety.

“Every child has a right to a safe and secure birth.”

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that a staggering 93% of Gaza’s population suffers from crisis levels of hunger, with little food and severe malnourishment.

Gaza is under a “complete siege” as a result of the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, by fighters headed by Hamas.

The manager of Muslim Aid’s charity and partnerships, Yusuf Kalam, recently spoke with Metro.co.uk about unbelievable experiences from the region, some of which he said were too horrific to publish.

“Youngsters will go to bed hungry,” Yusuf said. “The mother with the empty pot was mentioned to me.” She continued to stir it until her famished infant slept off.

Nicola posted the appeal website on Instagram with Nikesh, and pals, including Josie Gibson from I’m A Celebrity, congratulated her on the achievement.

In September, the TalkTV host and her three-year partner Nikesh revealed their pregnancy.

Last year, the two co-starred in the fifth season of the Channel 4 reality series Celebrity Hunted.

Up until 2018 and for a short while again in 2019, Nicola portrayed Nicola Rubinstein on Coronation Street.

Nikesh has starred in a number of television shows, including the thriller The Devil’s Hour on Channel 4, the sitcom Starstruck on BBC, and the drama Indian Summers on Hulu.
