Another well-known character return is coming to EastEnders: Patsy Palmer will play the legendary Bianca Jackson again for a brief period of time this spring, bringing the legend back to our screens.

The significant return coincides with the announcement that Bianca’s stepdaughter Whitney Dean is departing Walford, after Shona McGarty’s dramatic 15-year departure from the soap opera due to her alter identity.

Making a grand entrance for the farewell tale of such a cherished character, it seems appropriate that EastEnders has signed Pasty, who last made an appearance in the Square in 2019, to participate.

The actress expressed her excitement at playing Bianca again, adding, “I’m so excited to be reprising the role.” I have a really particular place in my heart for EastEnders, so it’s always a joy to return.

Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer added: ‘I’m happy to bring the brilliant Patsy back to the legendary character of Bianca Jackson.

Even though Bianca’s last appearance on TV was in 2019, the character is still beloved by viewers.

As she and Whitney, her stepdaughter, are thrown into the center of the action, we know our fans will be ecstatic to see her back.

The first special episode featuring Bianca’s comeback will center on Whitney and the turmoil she encounters when she visits Milton Keynes with her partner Zack Hudson (James Farrar).

Although the plot’s specifics are yet unknown, EastEnders has gone so far as to say that mayhem will follow, which is perfect in Bianca’s case.

Bianca originally appeared on our screens in 1993 as the feisty, sharp-tongued daughter of Carol Jackson and remains closely tied to Walford via the Branning family and two of the show’s much-loved characters, step-daughter Whitney and sister Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).

Having been a part of some of the most iconic storylines on the show, such as Whitney’s abuse in the family storyline that aired in 2008, her turbulent relationship with Ricky Butcher, and the revelation that David Wicks was her father, Bianca had lived in Albert Square for 13 years in total.

Currently shown on screen, Whitney just found out she is pregnant. Considering the trauma she and Zack had through with the death of their child Peach, Whitney first experienced fear and conflicting emotions.

The two have shown inherent aptitude for nurturing. Shona, who is also a very gifted vocalist, recently spoke out about why she decided to leave the part that made her famous in order to pursue new opportunities.

“It’s going to be the end of an era, or an earring, as the EastEnders saying goes,” she remarked in an interview with Inside Soap, alluding to the expression that Pat Butcher actor Pam St Clement popularized before to her 2012 departure.

“I’ve enjoyed my stay in Walford, but Whitney—may God bless her—has experienced some terrible things, and I believe she needs a vacation.”

This begs the question of whether Whitney will make a comeback in the future, and Shona isn’t excluding it.

“The door is open, and I can always return at a later time.” However, for now, I want to follow my passions, like singing, which is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a little kid.

“EastEnders has been incredible; I simply want to pursue other endeavors.”

The episodes featuring Patsy reprising her role as Bianca will premiere in the spring.

Michelle Collins (Cindy Beale), Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning), Kim Medcalf (Sam Mitchell), Lucy Benjamin (Lisa Fowler), Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale), Thomas Law (Peter Beale), Angela Wynter (Yolande Trueman), Matt Di Angelo (Dean Wicks), and Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell) have all returned to EastEnders in recent years.
